Hockey
Hockey is one of ten core sports for men and women at the Commonwealth Games.
A hockey game is played between two teams of 11 players each. A game is divided into two 35 minute periods, with a ten minute interval in between. Modern hockey is played on synthetic surfaces.
The hockey competition is run according to the rules of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) - www.fih.ch
Hockey for both men and women will feature on the sports programme for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. Scotland will accept both men's and women's host nation places with the performance target of top eight in the Commonwealth.
