Competition Format

Competitions played in the sets format should consist of sectional play, knockout (eliminating) play or a combination of both. Each game should be played over the better of two sets, with each set consisting of nine ends. The winner of a set will be the player or team with the highest number of shots when the ninth end is completed. If the shot scores are tied after the ninth end of a set, the set will be a draw. If the game is drawn one set each a three end Tie-break will be played.

In Delhi 2010 there were a total of six gold medals contested in the lawn bowls events singles, pairs and triples for both men and women.

Time limit of three hours on all section play games. No time limit on semi final play off, semi final and final games.

During sectional play, all nine ends of a set should be completed. In the event that the final time bell/siren sounds before the completion of nine ends then the outcome of the set will be determined at the completion of the end being played when the final bell/siren sounds.

During knockout play, there should be no further play in a set if, at any point, it becomes impossible for one player or team to draw or win the set, given the number of ends left.
