Jon Doig, Chief Executive
Jon has been Chief Executive of Commonwealth Games Scotland since May 2001. As Chief Executive he is now automatically appointed as the Chef de Mission for Team Scotland at the Commonwealth Games and fulfilled this role in Delhi in 2010. Prior to this he was Assistant General Team Manager at the 1998 and 2002 Commonwealth Games and was the General Team Manager at the 2006 Games in Melbourne.
Jon previously worked for the national sports agency sportscotland managing their High Performance Team. He co-ordinated the development of the Scottish Institute of Sport, initiated the Scottish Sports Hall of Fame project and provided technical support to the Scottish Commonwealth Games team.
A native of New Zealand, Jon previously worked for the Hillary Commission, the national sports agency of New Zealand, in the areas of coaching, sports science, Fair Play and Anti Doping. His sporting background also includes senior management roles at two World University Games and a background as a competitive swimmer and water polo player winning NZ University honours.
Elinor Middlemiss, Games Team Operations Manager
Elinor joined Commonwealth Games Scotland in July 2011 as Games Team Operations Manager. She will support the Chief Executive and lead on the technical planning and preparation of Team Scotland for Glasgow 2014, where she will be General Team Manager. She was also Deputy General Team Manager for the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games in the Isle of Man.
Elinor brings a wealth of experience to the role, as a former elite athlete, coach and now administrator, along with a great passion for the Games. She is a five times Commonwealth Games representative in badminton (1986-2002) winning bronze in the women's doubles in 1998 and in the team event in 2002. She has also played in eight Uber Cups, eight European Team Championships and six World Championships and has the most international caps (136) and national titles (22) of any Scottish female badminton player. She is an advanced coach at equivalent of UKCC level 2 and has coached at World University Games.
Prior to joining CGS Elinor worked for sportscotland as Programme and Services Manager with the East of Scotland Institute of Sport. She was also a mentor on the Achieve 2014 programme for Delhi 2010.
Adrienne Sunderland, Office Manager
Adrienne joined Commonwealth Games Scotland in 2003 from the Scottish Institute of Sport where she provided programme team support to athletes and coaches. She has been Office Manager for Team Scotland at the 2006 and 2010 Commonwealth Games.
Her love of sport began at school where she was girls’ sports champion for five years, competing at county and inter-county level in sprints and hurdles. Although participation nowadays is limited to skiing holidays and regular sessions in the gym, she is a keen spectator, especially at rugby matches, from internationals to Strathendrick club rugby where her younger son plays.
Catherine Goodfellow, Office Administrator
Catherine joined Commonwealth Games Scotland in February 2010 and she was a member of General Team Management staff for the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games. Prior to this she was a member of staff for Scotland House at the 2002 and 2006 Commonwealth Games.
She was previously a Partnership Manager with sportscotland for over 18 years working with a range of sports including curling, equestrian and lawn bowls.
She is a Board member of Scottish Disability Sport.
