The announcement on 9 November 2007 by CGF Chairman, Mike Fennell, that Glasgow would host the 2014 Commonwealth Games brought a close to the 5 year campaign to bring the 2014 Games to Scotland.
The Organising Company is now established with representation at all levels from the Games Council.
The Games will provide a ‘once in a generation’ opportunity for athletes to compete and succeed in front of a home crowd.
After an extensive consultation and selection process, the following sports will participate: Aquatics (swimming and diving), Athletics, Badminton, Boxing, Squash, Weightlifting, Hockey, Lawn Bowls, Rugby 7s, Netball, Cycling, Shooting, Wrestling, Judo, Gymnastics, Table Tennis, Triathlon
