The Commonwealth Games Council For Scotland
Thistle Club - bringing past and present together to strengthen our future
Home >  Thistle Club >  About the Club >

All Team Scotland members who attend a Commonwealth Games can become members of 'The Thistle Club'. This gives them access to Commonwealth Games Scotland functions and special Thistle club receptions. These are occasions when Thistle Club members can receive their special silver Thistle Club pin. These functions are frequently linked to Queens Baton Relay activity and provide a great opportunity for former Team members to get together..

If you are one of our former Games Team members, know of their whereabouts or wish to contact them, then we want to hear from you. CGS are keen to help our past athletes and support staff get in touch with each other through the Thistle Club. This is a special group of all those who have shared the unique experience of representing Scotland at the Games.

1962 Team member and Chairman of the Thistle Club, Louise Martin CBE said: "Our former team members have often stated that the Games were one of the highlights of their life. The Thistle Club enables them to renew acquaintances with others who have shared the honour of wearing the thistle. It also provides an oportunity to meet and support those representing Scotland at future Games."

CGS started seeking past Team members in March 2002. To date we have made contact with over 600 former team members.

Those wishing to register should complete the form online or print off and return to the Games Office by post at CGS. University of Stirling, Stirling, FK9 4LA, by fax on 01786 466481 or email [email protected] and you can also find out about other team members.
