| The Commonwealth Games Council of Scotland has announced that Kinloch Anderson will be supporting the 2006 Scottish Commonwealth Games team in Melbourne, Australia through the provision of Parade wear to the estimated 200 strong competitors and support staff. Kinloch Anderson are renowned in Scotland’s Capital City, as experts in tartan, kiltmaking and Scottish clothing since 1868. Work has already commenced on the design of the new Scottish Commonwealth Games Team tartan that will be the focus of the uniquely Scottish outfits. Once the tartan design is finalised, athletes will then be involved in the finishing touches of the full parade wear outfits that will be launched in late 2005. Louise Martin CBE, Games Council Chairman, commented that “Having parade wear that is uniquely Scottish and of which our athletes feel proud as they enter the stadium for the first time, is a key factor in contributing to our teams’ success. Kinloch Anderson impressed us with their contemporary design ideas matched with their long experience and status as Royal Warrant holders and suppliers to many of Scotland’s top companies and sports teams. With athletes of all shapes and sizes, outfitting is no easy task but early indications are that we are on a winner.” John Kinloch Anderson commented “We see this support as the start of the long relationship with Scottish Games teams and through it the strengthening of ties between the Team, their local communities and all who belong to Scotland as we compete in Games in Melbourne then Delhi and beyond. To make any Games team you need hard work, experience, determination and flair. All these are qualities that have stood Kinloch Anderson in good stead over six generations and are taking us forward in the future, as we expand into the global market.”
