Scottish Commonwealth Games Teams 2004 and 2006

The Commonwealth Games Council for Scotland have been seeking General Team Management and Medical staff to provide support services to the Commonwealth Games Team for Melbourne Victoria, Australia competing from 15-26 March 2006 and the Commonwealth Youth Games in Bendigo, Victoria Australia held from 29 November-4 December 2004. The posts of Chef De Mission for the 2006 Games Team and General Team Manager for the 2004 Commonwealth Youth Games will be appointed first followed by other management posts for the respective Games. The Head of Medical Services/Head Doctor and Head Physiotherapy posts will also be appointed prior to other medical posts.

These are prestigious positions and offer a chance to contribute to, and be part of the second largest multi sport event in the world, the only such event in which Scotland competes as a nation. The Games provide a unique opportunity to apply and develop personal and professional skills at the highest level of international sport.

The General Team Management and Medical staff act as part of an integrated support team. Staff will work in a range of generic duties and with any of the 16 sports at the Commonwealth Games or 9 sports in the Youth Games. All appointments are made by the CGCS and those selected will be responsible directly to the CGCS.

All Games staff must be committed to working with the CGCS before and during the Games and be able to work effectively under pressure within a multi-disciplinary team in a constantly changing environment.

These are voluntary positions with fixed contribution for expenses up to and at the Games. During the Games, all team related accommodation, clothing and travel expenses will be covered and equipment and facilities will be provided. Specialist training relating to roles within the Scottish Team will be given following appointment.
