Games Reception at Castle

Edinburgh Castle, scene of the Opening ceremony for the first Commonwealth Youth Games in 2000 will be the venue for a reception in honour of the team's success at the Second Games. First Minister, Jack McConnell, will salute the efforts of the Scottish Youth Games Team next week when he hosts a reception for athletes and parents in the Great Hall of Edinburgh Castle. The young athletes, all born in 1986 or later, had a successful trip down under, returning with a haul of 52 medals. Joining the First Minister, to congratulate the Team will be Sports Minister, Patricia Ferguson who was in Bendigo to cheer the team on. She also spent some time in Melbourne meeting the organisers of the M2006 Commonwealth Games and viewing the sports venues which will be used at the Games.
